Hi All,
After much hair pulling out etc. I have decided to chuck the Motronic FI on the Twinspark.
I found out from the AlfaBB that Suzuki GSXR750 throttle bodies are a good match to the Alfa intake.
So the project begins.
Here they are modified to fit the intake. Essentially you disassemble them and space them out with some 12mm tubing, attach them to the intake by Silicon hose and clamps. I have since replace the hose clamps with the ones the turbo guys use as they have a much higher clamping force.
Next is mounting and wiring of the Landrover V8 ignition coil set...
Cheers
Stuart

I don't suppose it is one of those projects that will be completed by Philip Island this weekend???
Hi Paul,
You don't suppose correctly.
Cheers

Where did you source the TB's Stuart? I have been toying with this idea for my 105.

Now that looks disturbingly familiar.... A bit after the fact, but normal hose clamps would have held them on fine, even under race conditions. What year are those throttles, out of curiousity? As 2001-2003(?) GSX-R 750 throttle bodies are 42mm ID at the exit (fully tapered from 50mm at the inlet), but later ones are smaller...

The best option is to look on Ebay in the US. Australian wreckers want silly money for them, but I think I've paid under $200 per set (GSXR 750) on both occasions through Ebay US.
Hi Stuart,
Please keep the posts and pictures coming. Have you decided on which ECU you will go with in place of the Motronic? I'm also interested in going down this path, but I've heard it might be difficult to get the car road registered if I use an aftermarket ECU.
Cheers,
Nick
Next installment.
- Computer mounted inside right footwell, you can see the wiring emerging
- 4 way igniter mounted
- set of Landrover V8 coils mounted and wired to the igniter module
- Holes (mostly) plugged in the the throttle bodies
- vacuum line tapped into end throttle body
- linkages extended
- Velocity stacks sources (US) and fitted with internal screens.
Unseen in these photos
- Exhaust modified to fit wideband lambda sensor, and flanged to aid in fitment
- Innovate motorsports LC-1 and gauge sourced (need to clean out inside car before I fit them)
Cheers

Looking good Stuart, Having fun with the wiring harness I see ;)
Are you going to run some kind of air box?, I reckon it's going to sound mean as with it setup like you have.
Any chance of doing a deal on the old intake support bracket? (my engine didn't come with one)
colin i think ive got 1 lying around you can have it as ive moved up a couple of cylinders and or sparkplugs
Hi Colin,
I'll bring the bracket on Wednesday, if I remember.
Cheers

Thanks heaps guys, Stuart unfortunately I'm in Sweden this month for work so I'll grab it off you when I get back if that's ok
Stuart,
You have probably seen this thread on Alfa BB but just in case.

The gallery on the conversion looks like it is also an excellent reference source.

Hoping you can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
