Title: 166 POWER STEERING FLUID LEAK

IT SEEMS I HAVE A SLIGHT LEAK COMING FROM THE POWER STEERING ON MY DEAR 166-CAN ANYONE SHED SOME LIGHT ON WHAT THIS COULD BE AND HOW TO FIX. MANY REGARDS

Lombardi,
Can you be a bit more specific about where the leak is coming from ie. around the pump,the reticulation junctions, the steering rack itself?
I am guessing you mean the rack in which case it is probably the rack end seals. A common problem on all power steering systems. Not a cheap fix.

Thanks for your reply,to be honest all i know is that its using the fluid and there is little puddles on the floor,next oil change i will get my mechanic to check it out-and unfortunately what is cheap nowadays,especially with cars.rgrds and thanks again

This isn't going to help at all. It's just an idle comment. Because your car is front wheel drive, you are pretty much locked into power steering to get the normal use out of it. If it was a rear wheel drive, the power steering would be an option and you could simply grease fill the rack for a cheap fix if that is what is leaking.

Lombardi listen to me. ill tell u where its coming from. i gaurentee its this. turn to the left or the right full lock .. and get sum1 to look at out pump and i bet it seeps out of the top :) .. haha im sure that will help because i had the same issue! LOL

LOL . u have to pull the pump of and ethier create a new gasket which isnt hard. or if u can buy a new set. if i was u i would just put a bit of paper over it hammer around it untill it cuts it self the perfect shape and then add a bit of gastet goo. and place it back on. you shall be laughing. only if this is the case though.
