Title: what else to change during engine swap
Post by: haxby on October 26, 2009, 09:05:55 AM

Hi all,

I'm new to Alfas. I have a year 2000 model spider that has a blown engine. I am replacing it with an engine that has relatively low miles (67 000) and apparently is in good condition.

Besides the cam belt, and the cam tensioners, oil, and oil gaskets, what else is worth checking or replacing during an engine swap?

Also, where is a good place to buy the variators and cam belt? I'm in St Kilda, Vic, but I am more than happy to mail order from anywhere.

for new OE parts, you can consider Vlade at Arese Spares, Sydney: http://www.aresespares.com.au/index.html

the water pump may be something to replace too. the plastic-impeller versions can fatigue and fracture over time.
