Hi,
I am new here (but a life long 2nd generation alfisto) and hope someone can help.
My mother's 89 75 2.5V6, Auto won't start.
Car turns over but no ignition. Believe it to be fuel delivery problem as the plugs are dry and more obviously a dry fuel line into the injector rail.
Before tearing out the main petrol pump (we have replaced the secondary one) I threw the multi-meter onto the (what I believe is) the wiring to the pump and I am getting no current/voltage through while the car is being kicked over.
I have gone through the relevant relays and checked them they seemed fine, we began replacing them anyway but to no avail.
I feel it is an electrical problem not a pump problem, but we can't find the source.
Do any of you belli alfisti have a suggestion?
Andrew
if you give me a call on 0418711643 ill guide you through a check and that will determine what the prob is its easier to talk to you whilst you check it than post directions
Dehne don't be lazy ! ;)
Please post the questions and answers on the board so we all can learn from your experience.
Thank you
John
im not being lazy it is easier for the other person to be standing at their car so i can tell them where to look and what to do
john it seemed good enough for me to diagnose the fuel prob with ur 90 over the phone ;) :P
Yeah mate i'm just stirring you up ;D
Yes, Dehne you were spot on the money with the 90 it just needed spark plugs and an good old Italian Tune up.
Thanks
John
From memory, you can check if the fuel pump is working by jamming open the flappy thing in the AFM with a screwdriver or similar, and turning the ignition on. You'll be able to hear the pump if it's working.
The other thought is that if it's an auto, and I know nothing about the 75 autos, maybe the transmission is telling the car that it's not in Park or Neutral? Except then it wouldn't turn over would it? Okay, scratch that thought.
redwog the easiest way is to call me as i can talk you through it and should find prob in 5 mins or less
