Title: 159 Auto Dimming Mirror
Post by: Jeffrey on August 08, 2009, 12:24:36 PM
??? Does anyone know how the Auto Dimming rear view mirror in a 159 works.
It appears to have 2 x green LED lights/sensors in the base of the mirror.
Are both of these meant to light up?, Only one does in my car and the dimming does not work all the time.

Hi Binky,

The LED to the left indicates the auto dimming function is on (when illuminated).  The 'Auto' button switches the function on/off.
The one to the right is actually the light sensor.
Try covering it with your finger when being followed by a car at night.  You will notice glare from the following car become more intense.

I don't know why the dimming would only work some of the time.  I do know that the brighter the lights behind you, the greater the level of dimming.

Cheers,

Marco.
