Title: Cars on Holiday in Europe
Post by: Tim Jobson on July 28, 2009, 11:09:57 PM
Just thought I would post some of my snaps on a recent holiday my wife and I took to Europe and UK.

The GTV was parked out infront of our B&B in England, was the GTV JTS model ever brought in to Aust?

The Smart car has really pissed a few people off, even its tight turning circle will not help here, so if in France do not upset the locals!

The police use all sorts of cars in Italy, even Pandas which are the idea car for those really narrow two way streets.   We had a Fiat Bravo diesel which was fantastic on fuel and had overall good performance, driving comfort and ergonomics that escaped without a scratch after 5500km.    The Ford Focus hatch in England was crap, needed to rev over 4000 to get any pulling power, comfort and ergonomics were terrible, it makes my every day drive in an Astra not so bad now!

Regards

Tim

What's happened to that poor GTV?  One spoiler wasn't enough?  And is that a WRX scoop on the bonnet?

I'm wondering if the Smart parking is some canny marketing.  If not, it's incredibly ironic.  Do they have irony in France?

Sheldon, I think they (the French) have something other than irony that my wife and I experienced ourselves.   They do however have very good quality roads but you pay for it in the toll charges. Germany's system is the best!......you just got to learn to look in your rear view mirror every 5 seconds when in the fast lane!

Does work count? These pictures were taken from my office balcony.(I had a corner office, the second balcony had a view of the Duomo!) If you look closely in the third one you'll see Schumi and Barichello.

The first two cars now live in Oz, but this is them in Rome and Auxerre respectively.

The other is a Maser at the 1000 Miglia

I've lost all the photos I have from a Turin expo that had all the famous Alfas including a Disco Volante - oh well!   ::)

Hey guys some nice shots there.  I like the view you had from your office K76, wouldn't mind a view like that myself.

Its been a while since I was last in Europe, well that is taking photos of cars ('05 and I didn't have a didgie camera then), the last time I was there ('2007) was to go to a funeral, so on reflection I will rather enjoy all these car photos anytime.  ;D   Dave
