Title: 2004 156 JTS Gear Crunching
Post by: sly17 on July 26, 2009, 12:07:45 PM
Hi

At times when changing gears, they tend to crunch - i.e. it's almost like a two-motion to get it into a gear. At other times it is fine. Is there a way to fix this? Or possibly correct the way I change gears?
I tried maybe revving the car up to like 3000 rpm before changing gears, and this occasionally works.

Regards
Simon

Are you using the pedal on the left?  ;)

Simon,

The gear change in my 2004 156 Ti was feeling a bit ordinary so I had the gearbox oil changed at the last service and the change now feels heaps better. Reverse is still a bit tricky to engage but I now go to fourth and then reverse and it seems to help.

There is no real science in this advise, just common experience.

Good luck,

Brent
