Title: 75 twin spark power steering
Post by: shane wescott on June 15, 2009, 01:46:59 PM
Hi Guys

Finally some time to start work again on the 75 TS (yes it's winter so why not work on the car outside :-)  )

I know I have some sort of a leak in the power steering  but "may" be able to get away with it for road worthy.

Question, if it is the rack, how difficult is that to extract and get repaired, its it an engine in or engine out job ?

I finally finished gearbox mounts this weekend, and started on rear brakes. I discovered that my funky stanley socket with twist and crank ratchet is excellent for adjusting the rear brake piston :-)

I believe the rack can be removed without taking the engine out, however it is incredible good fun apparently.

If it's going to be a pain in the arse you don't need, you could always just remove the power steering. The pump has been taken off mine, and i don't think it's all that bad. The only time you would notice is parking, once you are moving there is no real need for it.

engine doesnt need to come out but it is fun you need to twist the rack as you pull it out and pull it out from the drivers side, you will have to jack the motor up slightly to clear all the pipes.

Thanks for the help guys. I love fun jobs, so it may have to come out :-)

I will find out definately where the leak is coming from and work it from there.
