Title: Heater/cooling woes
Post by: Anthony Miller on April 25, 2009, 12:03:05 PM
As another winter begins to bear down upon us I thought it might be time to sort out why my heater refuses to get hot or warm even for that matter. When I place my hand on the heater input hose which comes out of the back of the engine(3.0l V6) I notice that it is not hot like the hoses at the front engine.A good flushing is what I think it needs but I'm not sure how to go about it i.e. which hoses to pull off where. Any thoughts or experiences greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
Anthony

Cheers Vince, I think I've sorted it. My alfa specialist had flushed the heater core 4 times only for it to stop working a week later. I suspect that he flushed only the heater core and the blockage was further down in the system. Ignorantly, I disconnected the return hose from the bottom radiator hose, then disconnected the hose from the rear of the inlet manifold, and flushed the system as a whole. Now it works better than ever

make sure you bleed the cooling system.

Yep did that, had to replace the brass bleed nut as it developed a crack due to over zealous application.Sometimes I don't know my own strength,D'oh.
