Post by: pep105 on April 19, 2009, 01:04:13 AM
Hi,

Anyone got any decent doors for 105 or any part suppliers anyone know of, I need both RH & LH especially LH may be able to salvage RH. And just one other thing does anyone know of a good 105 non step front shell, rolling or not. Im just keeping my options open, my restoration plans arent looking good.
Thanks in advance

A frustrated Pep whos about to give up

Cheers

Hi Pep, mate don't give up since if you do, I also will have to ;D, and I don't really want to !!

In my hunt for doors and a bootlid and which I have a couple of times asked here if anyone knew of such items I also had little response.  I eventually managed to get a LHS door shell, straight with surface rust and just a couple of holes off Milano's for $200, but Marc reckoned that all else spare doors they had were rusty.  Ditto re the situation for bootlids.

Robert Manning from Manning Motors, Sydney reckons he has some bootlids, but not a 1750 lid which was my first preference, especially since my 1750 GTV doesn't even have one but given the lack of luck on this situation I am less fussed now and would take any non rusty lid.  Robert's price was $400, which to my mind seemed pretty expensive, but Marc reckons is probably about correct.

I may have a lead here re some panels but need to chase up this guy to see if he does or doesn't.  If he does and has more than I need I can PM you.  Dave

Oh and forgot to mention, I may, and stress my be able to help out on a shell too, since there is a bare step nose shell with doors, bootlid, bonnet, grill and front lights. 1750 Instruments and seats and 1/2 cage that has been sitting for years at my mechanics.  It used to be a Targa Tassie car (reasonably successful) but was gutted buy the owner to provide parts for his 2L Targa Tassie Car.  The owner is going through a messy divorce and so hasn't sorted things like this out. I had actually been considering trying to acquire the shell, but in truth have myself far too many projects to deal with.  Again I can ask some questions and let you know via PM if you like. Dave

Glad to hear that mate.  Seriously, as I mentioned on Gorans thread re his rusty 1600GT, although it is rusty, it could be saved.  They don't make them anymore afterall and as we both know they are such fun to drive and a true classic.  If you havn't checked out Gorans car for parts for your yours, you might wish to since he seems to be pretty intent on wrecking it, given the lack of interest in buying the car. $3K doesn't seem to much to me, even with all the rust.

No worries, just PM me and I can make some enquiries, take a few photos to send to you.  Dave

Pep, good to hear that you are continuing the rage? I don't know whether I would bother with second handy's for doors, you have to find really good ones and that means it's come off a pristine car thats been garaged and of course these dont get wrecked? However there are some other suppliers in Melbourne, like Monza and the Italian shop; if you can take a breath on the price, but! everything thats good costs, how many times are you going to replace doors? so take a deep breath and spend the money wisely now. There is also Miglia Mille who from time to time will have good parts, just google and their details will come up. The other option is the UK, which provide a fairly easy way to get new! parts. Whilst a bit expensive now given Aus$ your getting brand new parts made out of current steel that will last and last. See search below for just some of the suppliers which will give you and idea on parts, price etc.

http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&q=Alfa+Spares+-+UK&btnG=Google+Search&meta=&aq=f&oq=

A number of threads on this site have mentioned this option as a good one and I think Marco has used suppliers successfully.

Good Luck and let us know how your going.
