Title: Loved Alfesta - and Bathurst :-)
Post by: shane wescott on April 15, 2009, 09:30:57 AM
Hi Guys

Just a quick one. Kerry and I went to our first Alfesta in Orange and had a ball. Lots of lovely cars, lots of nice people, and some great fun.

The highlight obviously was two laps of Bathurst when the track was in race mode. Despite the safety cars I still managed to scare myself on some of the steep bends - new undies were required.

I have a newfound respect for Mr Baskett and all who go at race speeds down the mountain, testicles like bowling balls is something that comes to mind :-)

Crowd favorite for the show and shine was an Alfetta 1.8 - yes you heard right, and Mary Lee kicked ass in one of the driver skill events waving the flag for us Vics.

Unusually there were three GTV6's there - all White. So some photos were taken of that.

My GTV6 is resting in the backyard now after 1800 faultless klm's and still purring like a kitten (only a little bit louder :-)  ) On of my friends suggested a call to the Guinness book of Records for the most klm's by an Alfa without breaking down - I suggested his Audi/Passat/Skoda will look good as a square lump of metal in 10 years time :-)

Can't wait until next year on local turf for the 100th Anniversary Alfesta :-)

Catch ya

Shane, thanks for sharing your experiences, it sounds like you had a ball. Are there any details on next years events, a web site? dates, location etc.?

I am sure Victor Lee and the Alfesta Commitee will release full details when they are put together. I think there are still a few things to be booked etc.

It is shaping up to be an awesome celebration of 100 years of Alfa with I believe a weekend at Philip Island followed by 4 days at the Formula One GP - should be fun.

If you rock along to the next club meet there may be some info available then.

CAtch ya
