Title: Alfa 155 - Rolls Royce conversion
Post by: jimnielsen on March 09, 2009, 09:12:07 PM
I am putting a new (much) bigger aluminum radiator in my 155. Looks just like a Rolls Silver Shadow now! Might be able to sell it as a 'luxury' car...

That is a seriously big radiator Jim you may have to raise the car so it wont drag on the ground.

That's a good point.  I was just about to say, "Now, THAT is a garage.."  but it's true it is missing something.  It's probably got an underground cellar and humidifier I would wager.

Are those new brake calipers as well Jim?  They're almost as big as the radiator.

And is that a custom radiator?

Oh, and if you're looking to offload the 155 as a 'luxury' car I could be interested.  Love my luxury Alfas...  Still looking for a 6.

The bumper even fits back on -with the new intercooler- (after a bit of fettling)! No, the radiator is a generic one that lets you put the coolant input/output on the side that you need.  I'd better wait till the car has an engine again before a tilt at the luxury market... Its true that there is beer in the fridge.

Wow, that's weird.  That's exactly what my beer fridge does.  Specialises on the output side however.

Jim, are you planning on a massive turbocharger by any chance?  Well that would explain a couple of things...

No, it will still have the normal Garrett T3 turbo. There is not much point in putting in a 'massive turbo' as these engines cannot take boost over 1.4 (or so) bar without quite extensive modification. Also I have proven already that I can blow the engine up with just the T3 turbo :) ...I am putting the intercooler in front of the radiator, however to reduce the inlet temps.
