I'm back as a member been gone for some time but before I depart I would like to impart the very special knowledge of what a 2ltr should be like not what it is an asthmatic pump at best in stock form
History : Italy produced the 2 litre for 105 and then alfetta really for the police and English and Americans due to tax laws in Italy 1.6 was the popular model
So some accountant decided we need fuel injection for Americans anti smog
And England and by default Australia and sth Africa got the carburettors
Now rather than reinvent the wheel they took the carbs straight off a 1.6 with the 1.8 jets and put that on the 2litre
No mods the 2 litre had bigger valves 44mm inlet not 80mm , so er have a engine thst has 10% bigger valves and 10% greater capacity and reduce cam lift by almost 10% and then stuff it up with cams and carbs ? Crazy
And such so to make it work with 1.6 /1.8 carbs they reduced cam lift and retarded the cam centres from 102 deg to 114 deg and 1800 carb settings
It passed smog laws but was soggy and anything over 5200 rpm was a waste of time and had 8hp less power than the 1.8 at 122hp on a good day flywheel
End of part 1
Part 2 is what the motor should have been
