Not sure how much of you $487 was in actual oil costs. I was told recently that Selenia oil comes packaged in smaller containers, resulting in a higher (per litre) cost.
Without industry experience, I am not able to validate this. However, I guess we may be able to make comparisons between Selenia oil and other 'premium' consumable products like genuine HP printer ink, or French Champagne.
