Title: Speedo cables
Post by: festy on February 22, 2025, 04:15:57 PM
I've just bought two speedo cables from Classic Alfa for my '77 GTV, and they seem to be about a foot too short.
It was labelled as 2960mm long, and I measure it pretty close to that.

I'm running it from the back of the speedo out the hole in the pedal box, across the top of the bellhousing, out the hole in the passenger guard, along the passenger side floor in the factory cable clips, and it only reaches roughly to the dedion crossmember - a fair way short of where it needs to go.

I'm fairly sure I'm running it in the right place because that's where my other GTV's cable is run.
I checked EB Spares and theirs is also 2960mm. Am I doing something wrong, or are both these UK shops selling cables that are too short for RHD cars?

Hi, my cable is 3420mm from ends of cable sheath. 1978 GTV. It was clipped underneath the car, running directly underneath the passenger seat, bundled with the black plastic tube that is part of the crankcase ventilation?

Thanks, not the answer I wanted to hear but at least that confirms the problem isn't me, it's these cables :(
