Title: Aftermarket gear selector sleeves
Post by: Paul Byrne on October 05, 2024, 05:26:21 PM
Rebuilding gearbox for friend. It needs one new selector sleeve. Are the 'standard' sleeves from the usual UK suppliers  now 'good', or is there a better option?

Paul, I just had the gearbox in my 1750 GTV S1 rebuilt. Purchased a set of the original Goertz snycros & three synchro sleeves from Classic Alfa, three dog rings from Centreline (USA) and the reverse gear from Alfaholics.

The old dog rings and sleeves looked fine but on close inspection, had wear on the inside.

Joe Beninca was happy with the parts as he assembled the box for me and he also built up the reverse selector face so fully engages in reverse. The factory setup never fully engaged reverse funnily enough.

All the best.

Paul

Thanks Paul, Sleeve is a pretty critical part and early reproductions seemed to have a  bad name. Probably fixed now. AH have a 'super quality' one at twice the price of the 'standard' one. Trying to decide which one to buy. Or other option.
Cheers
Paul
