Title: Giulietta door mirror
Post by: pafiat on April 18, 2024, 02:48:06 PM
The electrically controlled door mirror on my Giulietta has developed an irritating rattle. Before I tear into it, I wonder if anyone has had one apart? It doesn't look obvious how to attack it. Any suggestions welcome.

What type of mirror is it? I have disassembled both the GTV6 type (with metal backing) and the 75 type (moulded plastic). The metal ones are much easier...

From memory, you need to angle the glass as much as possible to expose the mechanism behind. Then, using a long thin flat head screwdriver, rotate the backing plate either clockwise or anti-clockwise (can't remember which sorry). This allows the mechanism to pull out from the plastic housing.

In saying this, I have only pulled the drivers side mirror apart which is cable operated unlike the passenger electric mirror. I assume the technique to access would be the same however.
