Hi,
Next stage in my 1974 105 GTV 2000 strip down is the windscreen removal.
I have seen an excellent YouTube video on how to achieve this but they cut the rubber seal and as mine are in good condition I was hoping to avoid this but happy to replace if necessary.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to remove the chrome trim and then the windscreen and rubbers?
Going to try this method.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFtvdTwTFXs
Cheers
Bruce,
Whatever you do, DO not try and remove the chrome trim whilst the screens are in situ.
The 'chrome trim' is a light alloy and bends, kinks, creases if you try to remove it from the rubber (its then useless as you will never straighten it again, they are available new these days
but i don't know what the quality is like) whilst installed.
You need to remove the screen and rubber/alloy trim as one piece. With the front you need to start slowly pushing it outwards at the top middle/corners. Hopefully it will work its way out of the surround. Same with the rear, need to be real careful though.
Maybe others can chime in with any known tricks or check Youtube for any vids.
Cheers,
Paul.

The mistake made in the video is that there was too much movement on one side of the screen, there is a thread started by Luke C about how to do it on an Alfetta screen, Using plastic body filler spreaders you start in the middle at the top inserting spreaders between the rubber and the channel you keep inserting the spreaders until you reach the corners. then you help the rubber off the channel around the corners and once you are around the corners the screen simply pulls up and out of the rest of the channel area. I use this method and it works. I will find Luke's link and post it here.

I agree, the person in that video just used way to much force on one corner of the windscreen. It was painful to watch frankly.
Yes I found it a little harsh when I looked into doing it.
As it turned out it the rubbers were full of silicon so ended up cutting them out.... another win for Classic Alfa!
Thanks for all the feedback.
