Hi everyone,
I'm looking for ideas on increasing the performance and power of a 2lt.
I'd love to hear any ideas and see any pictures of what people may have done in the past.
It will be a road car, not a racer.
Thanks in advance.
PM Vin Sharpe. He's a wizard!
Marty,
There are lots of things that can be done to increase the performance of a 2L Nord.
As the saying goes, "Speed costs money - How fast do you want to go?"
The last 2L that I toyed with some years ago (might be a whole range of newer stuff to do these days!) included the following,
.High Compression pistons
.Balanced Rods, Crank
.Lightened flywheel
.Milder/warmer cam grind
.Carb tuning (on a dyno), larger chokes if i recall, jets etc. (mine were Weber)
.Slightly modified LSD diff
There were other little things too. But this was for a daily driver back then, so it depends what you are trying to achieve. I mean if it was purely a
track car, would have got hotter cams, most likely 45mm Webers etc. etc. - basically a higher state of tune.
It revved beautifully and had plenty of mumbo at the expense of a tiny bit down low. You also have better ignition systems available now.
My work was done by Alfpa Repairs/Monza Motors. Worth talking to so you can get an idea of what direction to head in.
Cheers.
Thanks guys,
Yeah I'll be chatting to Hugh and getting them to be doing most of the work.
Just trying to get some ideas.
I'm wanting it to be a weekend driver/toy car. Not track but plenty of road power when wanted.
Thanks for the help
Marty. I have recently completed a performance upgrade for my 2ltr 105 GTV. Give me a call and I will give you details. Barry Thomas. 0466965825.
hmm.
I have a project car on the way that would benefit from a warm 2ltr Nord. If anyone has an engine to move on, please let me know.
