Title: New to the Forum & Australia *Alfa Wanted*
Post by: Dom Nicosia on December 07, 2008, 08:43:17 PM
G'day Guys,
Im new to the forum and new to Australia, I have recently moved to North Queensland, form the UK.
I have owned a couple of Alfa 155's back in the UK. My last Car was actually a Fiat Bravo, 1.9 JTD.

I have inherited my passion for Italian cars from my dad, who used to work for an Alfa Romeo Dealrship back home, as Technician, he also had a few alfa's in his time, The last one being an old 1984 Alfa Romeo Guelieta, My uncle has also had a few Alfa's 2 164's and currently has a 156 2.5 V6 Selespeed. So It is very much a family thing.

I am currently looking out for an Alfa 156, either a 2.0l 16v or 2.5 V6. Prefrebly a full manual, but would certainly consider a Selespeed.
If anyone is aware of any for sale in North Queensland, or even around Brisbane Please drop me a line.

Best Regards

Dom

Hi Dom,

Welcome!  Not too sure about the usual QLD haunts, but you can try the QLD AROCA website for a starting point.

Hi Dom

And welcome to the Forum, actually it is Aus wide, its just that the Victorian club hosts the site, I am pretty sure  So I am certain no one is thinking you are a right idiot at all.  I am also sure its a few degrees warmer up your way.  Considerably cooler down here in Tassie.

There should be plenty of 156s around these days for sale at very reasonable costs.  Even some up your way.  Best thing to do is check out wwwcarsales.com.au, www.carpoint.com.au, or www.carsguide.com.au   Alternatively, ebay. There seems to be plenty on sale from $5k upto $25K.  All depends on which model, which year, No of Kms on the clock, condition, specs etc.

From my experience and on the advice of my mechanic, personally I would be less keen on a selespeed than a manual (read I wouldnt buy a Sillyspeed).  Ditto if you can afford it go for a JTS over a Twin Spark, not that the Twinspark is a bad motor, its just that the JTS is better, from what I have read.  I have a '03 JTS Sportwagon.  Nice.  Try out a few, get it checked by an Alfa mechanic.  You might like to check out the Queensland AROC for club sponsors (mechanics).   Good luck with the hunt.  Dave
