I have 45mm Weber's and the replacement rubber mounts are difficult to find.
So, aluminium mounts? What's the general consensus?
This is for a race car, not road.
Taper a set at one end to 45 down to the other 40mm using standard replacement rubber mounts. Man has actually been to the Moon & back since 45mm all the way was last used seriously & air velocity was re-discovered!

Looks like I dont need to go down this path for now but good to know the rubber mounts are the way to go.
what about the rest of the car and motor ?( cams pistons bearings gearbox cage etc)
surely its not whether its rubber or aluminium inlets ( dont think they ever made rubber 45 mm inlet mounts )?
The question was based around the pros and cons of using the aluminium mounts when the rubber ones expire.
There are some arguments against them, ie. excessive vibration through the carbs affecting the fuel, possible float wear, etc.
The rest of the car, particularly gearbox and cage, has nothing to do with this topic.
From my research the OEM rubber mounts are superior to the aluminium solid mounts. That very one was what led me to request the thoughts of the Australian Alfa camp ...

As it happens I dont think theres anything wrong with my current mounts.

what i was trying to convey is that the mounts are the last of your worries
i dont believe you have a choice on the mounts you cant get rubber 45s
the only car that would have them would be an old GTA
so VIn is correct you have to taper the 40mm rubber mounts to port size and that is dependent
on what you make them
so personally if i went to 45s i would use the aluminium mid length around 65mm and use thick rubber O rings
to assist in eliminating the emulsion of fuel

The car was in storage for 14 years so all rubber components were suspect.
I thought I might have a fuel mixture issue (turns out I dont) and the mounts were on my list of things to replace as I work through possible ignition and fuel issues.
But all seems well in that department after a recent test run.
Now, if you could just take a look at my other post on rear engine oil leaks and give me your 2 cents worth on seals and gasket prep I would be much obliged.
yes they fixed the issue as i posted do the cigarette seals

Did them. Doesnt leak stationary but leaks after being driven.
I suspect sump gasket seal at the back.

very very slightly proud so when the sump goes on it pushes the seal in the other issue can be the cam shaft half circle rubber
at the ends they crack and shrink as well
