Post by: BGleeson on November 13, 2008, 10:30:27 AM
was wondering if anyone has had the problem of an surge in the idle of the car?
while sitting still the car will constantly be swinging between 500 to 1500 rpm - have had the problem looked before and was fixed but came back?? - the mechanic was not ALFA mechanic but was sure that he could address the problem

car is a 2000 GTV TS

This is usually caused by a fault with the PCV valve. It attaches to the inlet manifold just behind the throttle body. Inside the plastic housing is a spring and what looks like a plastic Golf Tee. Either the spring breaks or the Golf Tee gets clogged up.
