Thank you very much Mick. Expedient and factual information makes this site great. Without a workshop manual, I have been having a hard time tracking down this basic info.

Cheers.

Got a follow up question.
I note that at the gearbox end of the engine there is a timing mark on the block just above the inspection opening. Is there a corresponding mark on the visible flywheel ?
I am seeing about a 4mm hole in the flywheel perimeter edge which I am taking to be a balancing weight reduction point. Could this be the timing mark? Seems too imprecise to be one to me.

That should be the TDC mark. Well spotted.

The other timing mark is on the front pulley and lines up with the lower webbing on the water pump at TDC.

I believe this is what Mick is referring to -

Encouraging stuff fellas. OK so I am good on the flywheel "mark".

Working from memory, I don't recollect seeing anything on the front pulley-not to say it's not there. I need a second squizz.
BazzBazz, unfortunately if you have added an image of some sort, it's not reproducing on your post at my place. Nevertheless I will have a much closer look as suggested.
