Title: Spider roof release
Post by: micinqld on October 01, 2008, 12:08:22 PM
I have had constant problems with my 2002 Spider roof.  About every fourth use the lid wont open. Had a new motor installed about 12 months ago with the advice from Alfa Brisbane, "if it sticks, hit it with a hammer!"  Which I have had to do on many occassions.  It is now stuck again (down) and the motor isnt turning.  Any hints or ideas?
Thanks

If it was me i'd be going back to Alfa with a look like this  >:( and asking them to tell you what to do now since there "solution" doesn't work anymore. Was the replacement motor supplied by them or someone else and is it just under or just over 12 months, cause shouldn't it have a 12mth warranty. If so demand they replace it again or you'll go to the MTAQ.

I do not know if this is the correct recommendation, but check out the sponsors page -Italian Job in Clayton.

They have re-manufactured a replacement metal gear/cog thing (sorry!) to replace the plastic bit that breaks - the teeth on the edge break off.  A

common problem with the hood mechanism.

Hope that's it !
