Title: Dashboard Repairs
Post by: lhodgo on February 19, 2018, 08:06:06 PM
I all I have two cracks in my dash, do I have to re skin the entire dash or is there a decent repair option? Would love to get peoples thoughts and to get ballpark figures on what if may cost?
Dash is out of the car and stripped of all equipment.

I've used one of those kits where you mix up the pigmented powder with a paste binder and smush it into the cracks with graining paper between the hot teaspoon and the powder/paste.

Honestly, it didn't work well at all. I was quite disappointed.

Next time I'll go straight to the re-skinners.

Recently had my Alfetta GTV split dash re-skinned by a company in Sydney. Took a little longer than estimated, but at the end very pleased with the final product. Have seen various repair options on Youtube, but unsure of the longevity of this type of repair and is a cheap option if only two cracks to repair. Find link to one of the Youtube repair options. Unfortunately my research at the time found that only new reproduction dashboards are available for LHD vehicles.

Dr Dashboard in Melbourne  has been around for years and does good work . There is a GTV 1750  reskinned dash in their gallery section.
