Title: Hello from Kalel
Post by: kalel on August 31, 2008, 06:37:30 AM
Hi all.

I currently drive a black 156 JTS 2.0. Purchased new back in 2002.

Wonderful car and have had no regrets.

Beautiful rasping engine and the styling, well, we all know how good Alfa is at designing distinctive, beautiful cars. ;D

I've been a member of ausalfa for a while but thought I'd sign up here as well.

Any 156 JTS owners out there?

Welcome kalel.  There are lots of 156 owners here......where are you all ???  It's actually really nice to hear from someone who is really happy with their 156, enjoys driving it, the styling and the exhaust note.

I was growing tired of reading "I have a 156, should I change my cam belt or can i leave it for another 100,000 kms to save a couple of dollars"

Absolutely love the thing.

Six years old and still gets comments from my nieces such as "Look! It's the sexy car"

The 156 does look superb in black mind you and I really look after it (thank you Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine) -  ;D

Case in point. My brother works for Subaru and constantly drives brand new models which he changes over every three months. His response "I wish I was driving your Alfa....still looks really nice"

I was actually thinking of going for a 159 2.2 but after discovering its actually slower than the 156 (not that the 2.0JTS is a rocket at 8.2 secs for 0-100) decided against it.

I'll keep it for a few years yet I think.

Welcome - I have a 156 selespeed twinnie that i have had since new in 99 - also decided against a 159 - couldn't see any good reason to change.  I've got over 180k's on the clock now so maybe will update in a year or 2 before the big stuff starts to need replacing.
Thinking of a 2.4 diesel......or maybe i'll wait for the 159 replacement......when is that?

Read somewhere that  Alfa will release the Giulia in 2010 to coincide with their centenary!

Could be a winner.

Hi Kalel

Like yourself, I too have a JTS 156.  Mine is a '03 Sportwagon. Metallic silver/blue (Gabbiano blue) with black leather.  As I have mentioned on a number of other postings, but to fill you in. I bought it in Sydney last November and drove it home to Hobart via the Pacific Hwy.  A really good trip, but that is another story.  Mine had 89K on the clock it now has about 95K.  1 owner from new and full Alfa dealer service history.  Absolutely no problems so far.  It is such a practical, great looking, economical and delightful modern car to drive/own (well it is modern to me given all my other cars are from the 60s.)  I am lucky as mine had the Bose hi fi upgrade which is superb.

From what I have gathered from all on the forum, let alone my mechanic always service them correctly and it should treat you well.  For my needs given I surf, and snow ski, hence the sportwagon, the logical replacement would be a 159 sportwagon but I will wait for some time as there is absolutely no need to replace it yet.

Enjoy your 156 JTS.  Cheers Dave

Thanks Dave,

I love my JTS. I keep her oil at the right level every month and have had her serviced at Alfa dealers and an Alfa specialist. Raspy engine, stunning looks. And its 6 years old!

Funny as it still draws admiring looks. Must say the styling has aged well! Then again it is an Alfa.
