Title: Checking Engine Number
Post by: gtv6sv on September 16, 2017, 04:19:20 PM
Hey guys,

I'm just wondering on how to check that the engine number matches the body?
I'm in the process of buying a 75 potenziata which definitely has the V6 but there's a sticker next to the VIN number saying it's a 2.0 T.S...
The car has all the body kit and and all the stuff that makes a Potenziata, just this is throwing me off a bit.
I've downloaded a fill detailed history on the car but it does not say what the engine is (be it a twin spark or V6)

Any help on how to identify the engine type? I have the engine number ready to go :-)

If it helps the engine number is AK61503000394.
Would some be able to tell me if that's a 75 3.0 Q.V. engine number?

Thank you!!

marco fazio from alfa romeo centrodocumentazione previously was helpful if you gave him VIN. Email is below, however someone on here said they stopped providing info for free and now charge a decent whack for it. Still, you should be able find out what your car was originally.

You might be interested in this post from earlier this year, the info apparently now costs 30 euro.

there are a couple of older versions of ePer floating around on the net (fiat club?) which you may be able to punch the VIN into and find out the exact details..

( http://eper.fiatklubpolska.pl/navi?FORCED=TRUE ) .. there's a switch for english, will figure it out and post it up - you need the VIN

ie. punching in the rego (PBY-456) ..the only 75 for sale on carpoint (carsales) into Vic rego,

advises that the VIN is ZAR16200006141704
and the engine number should be AR061240004065
Punching the VIN into ePer (above) confirms that the car is

U4 - 75 BZ 6 CILINDRI E TD (1988-1992)
161.153.1.0 - 3000 I.E. V6 "AMERICA" USA'83
Engine: 0004065
Vehicle:   03108547
Prod. date: 29/5/1989
M 3.0 V6 USA'83 (M3)
V VERS.SPORTIVE (V3)

and.. the engine number matches
Grab the VIN and/or the rego on your car and go all CSI on it :)
