Title: Seeking views on 2005 GT
Post by: Thevak on June 12, 2017, 06:55:03 PM
Hi
Hoping to hear views on a GT 2005 Disegno Bertone with 6 speed manual with 116000km. How does it compare to say 156 GTA? Also I am not sure how to tell if fitted WithQ2 or Q4?

Q2 is the LSD which you can tell if added by looking at the diff casing for new silicon, perhaps.
Q4 is the AWD system, look for the transfer case with drive shafts going forward and back, but only in the 159.  Don't think GT ever came with AWD.
GT vs GTA, GTA has more killer wasps.

Hi Thevak,

The only absolute way to tell if it has a Q2 diff fitted is to take out the L/H driveshaft and then the output flange from the gearbox and have a look inside. If you can see a pin through the diff then it's a standard one. If you can see straight through then it has a torsion type diff, also knows as a Q2.

cheers. Mick.

Hi Thevak
Performance figures for the 156 GTA are 0-60 in 6.3 sec and top speed of 250 Km/h (Car Sales Review), whilst the GT 3.2 manual is  0-60 in 6.7 sec and top speed of 243Km/h. (Gumtree AR Review). With respect to Q2 and Q4 the previous posts sum it up.
cheers

GT is based on 156 Sportwagon chassis, so has fully folding flat rear seats (bonus). Pretty sure everything mechanically (brakes, donk, gearbox, chassis braces) except perhaps the fast steering rack is identical.

Discussion in the UK forums suggest the GT and GTA engines and Maps are identical, just never advertised as such so as not to ruin the cachet of the GTA. I'm sure somebody in here will know othwise :)

What major servicing is required and frequency? My experience is only with twin spark.
