Title: locking the transmission on the v6
Post by: cc on June 09, 2017, 04:51:53 PM
Hi
I want to lock the crankshaft from moving while doing the timing belt. Does the V6 auto have a porthole into the transmission a locking tool can be inserted into?
cheers

No. There is a particular tool available for locking the crankshaft pulley.

Hi CC,
If you are doing the cam belt you need the cam shaft locks that lock the cams in position when you position the crankshaft on #1 TDC, there are marks but the best is to use a dial indicator down #1 plug hole to get it exactly correct. Long story short you put the engine on #1 TDC, fit the cam locks then remove the T belt, align #1 tdc loosen the adjustable cam pulley and refit the T belt.
There are plenty of how to sites on the net and probably in the archives on this site.
Cheers
Andrew
