Title: Spider inside handle wont open door
Post by: Alfasam on June 01, 2017, 07:16:42 PM
Hi all

My beloved 2001 spider wants me to be a gentleman and always open the door for my passenger from the outside. Inside door handle wont open door. There seems to be pressure when you pull on handle, but door stays put. It can be opened from the outside. I have turned the door lock on and off but this hasnt done anything. Anyone with ideas as to what to try?

Thanks for any help!

If your door opens up from the external door handle, then I suggest the linkage/rod from the internal door handle has popped out from the clasp or broken clasp. You might be lucky and remove the internal door handle and re-attach the rod back into the clasp/clip. If this does not work then the door card needs to be removed to access the rod and clasp/clip.
cheers

Hi Bonno,

Not possible to do that on the spider it is part of the trim. The handle can't be removed separately.

Alfasam, You'll need to remove the door trim to access the cable.

Tools required are;

3mm Allen key
4mm Allen key
5mm Allen key
small pick
posi-drive screwdriver

Cheers.

Mick.
