Title: Powerchip for 2.5L V6
Post by: poohbah on May 22, 2017, 05:57:42 PM
Just wondering if anyone on here has any experience (good or bad) with installing a Powerchip upgrade for their 2.5 V6.

Supposedly boosts power from 140kW to 156kW, while torque goes from 218 to 246Nm.

Not cheap at $990, but that is quite a hike in output.

IMO it's not worth it.

A good service, an intake and cat back exhaust will probably get you more power than a chip.

A mate of mine got his Subaru liberty V6 tuned and honestly it felt no different to me, despite a claim of 25kw more.

N/A cars are generally harder to get power out of, however if it was a turbo 2 litre, I reckon a chip would do wonders.

Just my 2 cents, I could be wrong though.

Andrew.

Cheers Andrew, that is exactly the reason I was looking for opinions.

I'm not really seriously thinking about spending that sort of dosh myself (usually have more compelling reasons to spend on the Alfas!), but interested to hear from anyone who has personal experience.

Turbo cars are much easier to get more HP out of, the chip mapping usually increases the boost output = more power.
