Title: 105 Series hydrovac (brake servo) teardown - removing power piston
Post by: drewrgs on April 30, 2017, 03:29:49 PM
Hi all,
Ongoing saga with a new Alfa 105 series brake servo (Bendix style hydrovac, probably Chinese new manufacture)
Bought new earlier this year from a UK supplier but suspect a tear in the master cylinder cup or just contamination from whatever was in my brake lines so tearing it down. (Bought two, one works fine, one doesn't, currently out of replacement stock so forging ahead on my own )

I practiced tearing down an old Bonaldi unit.
Everything came apart fairly easily, so moved onto the new one.

Pulled the vacuum booster shell apart,
The power piston on the old Bonaldi unit just popped straight out, but not so with the new one.
Does anyone know if there's a trick to pulling out the power piston on the new units?

Picture of partial tear down attached.

Thanks
