How hard is diagnosing and replacing carby mounts on webbers re 1974 spider series 2 , heard it was an easy job but reading elsewhere is to the contrary , if i have to pay for someone to fix how much roughly am i up for . thanks
Not that difficult, carbies off (8 nuts and linkages), then take off the coolant manifold (7 nuts or something like that) because the carbie mounts are bolted to the manifold from the backside. You will need a new gasket and scrape clean the surfaces. And a bit of sealant around the water galleries when reassembling.
You can press down on the carbies to see if there are cracks in the mounts, if so, change.
Thanks Neil
If you go to the trouble of changing the mounts then check the condition of the bush at the bottom of the support arm and also change if required.

That side of the engine is a minefield!
While everything is off (and nice & easy to get to) and i'm not sure how well/up to date the maintenance is on your 74' spider,
check engine mount, fuel pump & hoses, heater hose, accel. linkage bushes (mounted on the firewall), steering box lube level
and anything else you can now see!
Cheers,
Paul.
As far as i can see all looks ok , engine was overhauled including rest of car restored around 10 years ago , drives very well and engine pulls strongly , gear box perfect , just this whistling noise relating to carby mounts, how many roughly hours work is involved ?
I just spray wd 40 near iot if the revs change you have a problem
and push down lightly
Being sorted out now
