Title: Brake fluid reservoir
Post by: Bourney on December 26, 2016, 02:48:14 PM
Hi,
I have not been able to find a new brake fluid reservoir for my 83 sud ti, so I am trying to clean up my existing reservoir. The problem is that half of the reservoir is sealed so you cannot clean it easily. The best I can do is spray brake fluid cleaner up an outlet and try to swirl it round. Unfortunately this has not been very successful.

Does anyone have any tips? Can I soak it some solution to get the ingrained gunk out?

Regards David

I used to own a ultrasonic parts cleaner.  Perfect for cleaning our kart engine carbies.  I'd try dunking the reservoir in one of these.  Most workshops specialising in carby and fuel injection repair should have one of these widgets.

If the ultrasonic cleaner wont budge the gunk, try some CRC carburetor cleaner.  It is a very aggressive solvent.  Dont leave any in the reservoir for more than 20 seconds.  Multiple short duration applications would be safer than one long one.  This stuff is very potent - use sparingly!

Thanks Colin for the 2 options. I will give them a go.
