Title: transmission oil query 156 V6 Q-system
Post by: poohbah on October 02, 2016, 11:48:12 AM
Any recommendations on transmission oil for 156 V6 Q-system auto?

Manual says Tutela GI/2 but I don't recall seeing that brand locally. Needs to be Dexron II spec, so I guess anything Dexron II from the servo should be okay. (Is the Q transmission a Japanese system - Aisin? In which case I should probably choose one that is recommended for Jap models)

Also as a general guide, anyone know how much oil (volume) is measured between the Min and Max marks on on cold side of dipstick? I presume its 1L?

Just want an idea so I don't overfill if it needs topping up.

Bought some generic castrol Dex II/III stuff, for emergencies, but didn't need topping up anyway. Still be interested to know how much trans oil it takes to from min to Max marks.

If you want to spend money on something good, Castrol Transmax Z. Otherwise any Dex II/III
Buying something marketed towards Asian vehicles/transmissions will be no benefit.

I'll have to check but I am pretty sure I did buy Castrol transaction. I also have a vague recollection that the Qsystem auto trans is made by Japanese manufacturer Aisin. But happy to stand corrected if that is wrong.

*Transmax - darn autocorrect!!

Yes they are made by Aisin/Toyota but they don't use a typical Asian type ATF fluid.
