Title: Wear on inlet buckets
Post by: Stuart Thomson on May 15, 2016, 10:36:01 AM
Hi All,

Wondering if this is normal wear on the inlet buckets of a 75 motor?  If not, what causes this?

Cheers
Stuart

Sometimes, if you have a high lift performance camshaft, then the bucket can tilt in the housing, due to its extra workload moving up and down more, and as it moves to the top or bottom of the housing, it can be on the piss, instead of being square in the housing.
Or if it is a standard car it may have dirty oil, Colin.

Hi Col,

Yeah, this is the race car, high lift cams.  Bruno came up with the same diagnosis.  Looks like cam followers are now on the list of things to change regularly.

Cheers
