Hi All,
my 75 has been a bit unpleasant to drive of late. On certain surfaces and at certain speeds (definitely at highway speeds) there can be a periodic shudder through the car. A real detraction from the drivers experience (my wife doesnt know what I'm talking about...)
Sofar I've replaced the following:
Front dampers
lower control arm bushes
lower ball joints
front wheel bearings
de-dion bush
watts link bushes
upper control arm bushes
castor bushes
tie rod/rack ends
And I've swapped wheels
The car is operating without power steering as the idler bearing died.
One side top ball joint needs replacing.... Both will be replaced soon....
Any ideas on what could be causing this? The only thing that has somewhat improved the vibration/shudder was replacing a tie rod/rack end.
CHeers
I should have mentioned that it occurs when coasting in neutral
Check your rear wheel bearings. If there is any play, replace them. Made a huge difference for me.
Another random possibility. Check the tightness of the steering rack securing screws.
Thanks all,
I set out to replace brake pads and rear dampers on Saturday and found one very loose rear bearing (the other not great either). Fortunately my "spare" 75 had good bearings and cv joints so i swapped the de-dions. Initial test drive it seems that its cured.
