Title: 1972 Berlina 2000 Paint Question - Rosso Alfa
Post by: BenS on April 03, 2016, 04:19:44 PM
Hi all,

I have a 1972 Berlina 2000 that is going to get a bit of paint work done. I am confused to work out the paint code though. I have attached an image of the paint code under the boot lid. I read this as 601 but that black. What is the best resources to find paint data?

Cheers, Ben

I'm no expert with paint codes, but I did find this on alfabb:
http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/car-restoration/3895-1972-alfa-romeo-color-chart-reference-materials-2.html

Could that possibly be a 501 but because of the smudging its looks like a 6? The paint name matches 501 as well?

Yep that It almost certainly Rosso Alfa 501. The 'standard' 105 Alfa Red. The paint shops have the codes to make it. Even Supercheap can mix what they say is it. When asking the paint shops to make it you seem to need to tell them that is 'Alfa Romeo Rosso Alfa 501'.
One point to note is that there are two shades in their databases. The Standard one is listed and then there is another option, can't remember whether it is slightly lighter or darker.
