Title: S4 Spider that doesn't like to start when warm
Post by: giuliasuper on March 18, 2016, 12:46:30 PM
Hi All.

My Spider (resting with a trickle charge unit) starts first time every time when I bring her out for a cruise. Later, on the same day, everything electrical works fine - lights, radio, fans, but the car will not turn over at all. If you wait a short while (say 10 minutes or so), miraculously the car starts as normal! Any suggestions?

Can you hear a clunk from the starter motor solenoid when it fails to turn over, or do you get nothing at all? If you hear a clunk, then it could be buggered starter brushes

No clunk Colin; just nothing - almost as though the battery is completely dead, which of course it is not.

Ciao, had same prob with my series 3 spider,  try unplugging the lead that attaches to the bosch fuel injector , with unplugged will start immediately, whilst still running, re-connect , wish i could display with picture to make it easy for u , i imagine ur series 4 is fuel injected and the bosch system is common in gtv 6 , 75 etc  good luck
