Quick question - I am going to replace the oversized 45mm weber carbs on my 81 GTV with stock Dellorto 40s that I recently purchased.
I don't have the original airbox - the Webers are capped off with chrome K&N air filters - so my question is simply whether they will also fit the Dellortos, or am I likely to need a different size?
Pic shows current set-up.
I would not change them
question is why?
then yes and no the air filters sport should fit only the holes are bigger on yours
the problem now with going down to 40's is that the 45 feeds into hopefull;y a 45 mm
reduction manifold of sorts
so with a 40 you will have to change them
then they may have modified the head to match the 45s then you are stuck
i think 1st remove current carbies and see what is needed
but I would still ask why?
I'm changing them because the prior owner fitted them without making any modifications (I subsequently checked with him to confirm he made no changes to manifold or ports etc) - everything else is still stock.
They always run too rich, show poor low-speed/low-revs throttle response, and poor fuel economy (15L/100km for a 2.0!) - and on long runs, kind of feels like it is being flooded.
Local Alfa workshop reckons they are really coshing performance.
Regardless, I should get most of the cost of changeover back by selling the Webers.
Yeah, I know but I'm not sure if I would survive the fallout at home.
ok understand that is odd that he did that because it shouldnt fit studs are wider
something had to be changed
I would do a test on the 40s before you sell
yep, will do.
