Title: Oil Level Sensor - 1985 V6 2.5L 90
Post by: The Count on January 25, 2016, 01:48:17 PM
I think someone may have posted something on this before but I can't seem to locate it.

I'm after either:

(a) Any idea of where I can get either a 2nd hand or after-market oil level sensor for the 90 OR
(b) A workaround which stops the warning light coming on when the sensor is faulty or a fix for a faulty sensor

All suggestions welcome!

There are 2 wires that go to the sensor, aren't there? Get a potentiometer and wire the centre and either of the 2 outer pins to the 2 wires and rotate the pot until the warning light goes out.
You might even achieve the same thing by just joining the 2 wires together, but I can't say whether or not too much current will be drawn thru the controller.

Yes, normally a resister is used between the two wires on a 75 to fool the ARC into thinking it is working and I assume the 90 would be the same. I don't know what value sorry so a pot would be perfect.

112 Ohms works in mine.

Yes, a 12 ohm resistor works well in my 3.0 motor. I got mine from Jaycar and easy to put a male and female spade terminal and connect in line.
