Title: Alfetta Gt window Winder
Post by: kaymar on December 15, 2015, 09:20:24 PM
Hi
Does anyone know what the inside of a window winder assemby looks like? On mine, the plastic cable drum turns on the winder shaft; I'm guessing there is a splined or keyed connection twixt two that is stripped. Do I have to get a new mechanism, (are they available?) or can the 2 pieces be sepperated and filled with some super goop???

Aha! I've pulled it apart, and it's stripped. A later model is available, so that will be the solution. Filling with goop probably wouldn't work as it would be too hard to get a good bond on the back of the inside of the plastic drum. And it wouldn't work as nice.

So, post is for others info.

Make sure you don't overwind the cable too many times before reattaching the drum. When I reattached mine (after friggin hours of fiddling about blind ... if the cable wasn't wound onto drum enough it would jump out of the guides and I'd be forced to start again) I reckon I had turned it one revolution too many, so when window was fully wound down, the window edge still protruded about an inch and a half.
