Title: 916 GTV6 17 inch tyre size ...can anyone help?
Post by: sprint speciale on December 05, 2015, 12:15:34 PM
Hi everyone,
I'm about to put 17inch wheels (GTA Wheels) on my 99 GTV6 .
Can someone please point me in the right direction re tyre hight and width.
I don't want any touching or rubbing problems within the guards ....
are 225 45 17 Michelin pilot sport 3s a good choice ?

Thanks, Frank .

Hi Frank,

Thats also the size I have on my gtv, and it rubs now and than, however my car is on 20 mm lowered with ebach springs. Should be fine with standard heigth.  My speedo is 1O% out on those, while on 16 inch it was spot on, thus be careful.

Hi Speciale,

225/45 17 was the factory specified tyre for the GTV with 17 inch wheels.
This is the specification on the tyre placard on my phase 2 GTV.
My car has standard suspension and the tyres never rub.

Are the GTA wheels wider than the GTV 17 inch teledials?

Cheers,
Alan

Offset might be a problem as well.

I tried to use some 156 wheels with reasonable tyres on my 2000 GTV TS, but they rubbed on the rear suspension, so I swapped the tyres instead. (I only swapped the rears and was going to do the fronts later).

Having said that I don't recall the offsets, but the sedan wheels were different to the coupe wheels.
