hi all
sorry for being a bit vague on this but:
mechanic has told me that the cause of rough running on my 98 GTV V6 is that a no. of hoses have gone hard, lost their flexibility and are leaking air. He did put the bonnet up and point out what was needed, but I don't really know what the bits are called.
he also said it's probably a good idea to replace the bits that hold the inlet pipes to the head - the black things with rings around them, that tighten with screws - sorry, don't know what you call these either.
mechanic said he'd rung around a few places in Melb - eg Italian Job and Monza Motors (I think), but he couldn't find anyone with the bits. I've also had a look around online, and haven't been able to find anyone, Aust or o/s, who's selling bits like this
I hope I can get some assistance here :)
Try Itallian Automotive Spares.

Andrew.
thanks, contacted them, they're asking for VIN no. - you'd think knowing it's a 98 3.0 V6 would be enough info, but anyway.
They've also asked if I can be more specific about the parts needed, which I can't be really, as I don't know what you'd call any or all of the various hoses that seem to be leaking air.........
but I'll see how I go

Providing them the VIN (it's stamped on your car, easy) lets them identify exactly which version it is down to the last bolt and nut in EPer. Telling them it's a '98 3.0 V6 narrows it down to the several thousand cars that were made and doesn't help with any revisions or changes during the run that they (personally) would be unaware off.
ie. They were being helpful :)
Take it to one of the specialist workshops previously mentioned and they will fix it for you.
well, Italian Auto Spares got back to me, they don't have the bits I need
which 'specialist workshops' are you referring to choderboy? The mechanic did a ring around to places like the Italian Job, etc, who didn't have these parts either
surely there must be someone, somewhere that stocks these parts?

so every time you go shopping for engine parts, you get asked for a VIN no.?
Yes, pretty much.
Every time I go shopping for Alfa parts I supply my VIN number. If the parts supplier won't or can't use it as a reference, or can't supply correct part numbers that I can reference in ePer myself then I don't use them.
Hmmm...
Maybe try Milano Wreckers.
If he doesn't have anything, try Mille Miglia Motors. He is a bit pricey though.
Have you tried contacting an Alfa dealer? I'm not sure if they would have parts but give them a go.
Good luck!
Andrew.
hi,
been a bit slack with chasing down the parts I need, as I don't drive the car all that much these days
but anyway, I'm attaching a couple of pics I've taken of the hoses I need. Can anyone tell me what I should be calling them?
I'm sure it'll help a lot if I can actually tell people what they are!!
thanks!!
