Title: Help guys – rattle in 156 JTS man??
Post by: mmamia on September 30, 2015, 10:16:23 PM
Hi guys, bought a very well maintained 156 JTS manual wagon recently (cam belt done recently and a host of other items/replacements/improvements + oil changed every 5,000 kms (last at 87k, now done 91,500k)

Now there is a rattle:

• It's minor but was louder tonight on way home up a hill

Could it be:

• Type of fuel I'm using? Was 98, now trying 95 still there

• Connecting plate between engine and exhaust or something else with exhaust?

• Balance shaft tensioner?

• Knock sensor?

Haven't owned an Alfa in three years, can anyone recommend a good honest shop in Melbourne?

Cheers,

Chris

There are many good Independant Alfa Romeo Workshops in Melbourne, it depends on where you live, Alex Donnini Malvern, the club are having a workshop visit there in a week, Mauceri Motorsin Clayton, Il Bolide Rosso in Thornbury, Monza Motors in Bayswater, Maranello Pursang Motors in Brunswick, Alfamen in Brooklyn.
These people have been working on Alfa Romeo's for decades and know them well, and have most likely come accross this problem before.
Let us know how you got on and what the rattle turned out to be.The club will be having a workshop visit to Alfamen early next year, watch the calender for details, Colin.
