Title: Alfa 75 TS petrol smell in boot fix
Post by: alanm on July 09, 2015, 02:07:59 PM
Hi all,

I had a strong smell of petrol in my car and traced it to a split in the plastic hose between the filler and the tank.
I don't know if my car had the factory set up or not, I hope it didn't as it was a little under engineered :P

Anyway, the pics attached show the set up before and the parts I bought to replace the filler neck hose.
On advice from one of the clubs sponsors, I kept the breather hose that goes from the filler neck hose the the charcoal (?) canister inside the boot.
This complicated the fix, but the solution came from a UK company called Viper Performance – a clever little fixing designed specifically for rubber and silicone hose.
The alluminium spacer came from RP Wallis Melbourne. You can see how it work in the pics.

In addition to the parts shown in the pics I used a 100mm (approx) section of hose which connected the aluminium spacer to the tank.

I hope this saves someone some frustration ;)

Al.
