Title: Fast Idling 159 2.2 JTS
Post by: Bruce Fowler on June 20, 2015, 04:02:31 PM
Today for the first time I noticed the engine continues to idle at 1500 rpm before slowly dropping back to 1000  rpm and then maybe the desired 750 rpm.

Turning the climate control off seems to help it drop back sooner but only marginally.

Guess I'm off to see my favorite Alfa mechanic, but I thought a post on the forum might give me an idea or two.

May be a dirty throttle valve assembly, they can get clogged up with crap such as oil, carbon and fuel and stop the butterfly valve from operating smoothly.
The idle will be high and rough, then the cruise control will stop working followed by warning, the it will go into limp mode.....ask me how i know, Colin.
