Title: Remove 164 Fuel Filler Cap
Post by: V AR 164 on April 26, 2015, 11:00:22 AM
Hey guys,

Has anyone removed the filler cap before and if so how? I want to remove the filler door only. The catch mechanism can stay in place.

I've had a look around and can't figure it out.

Thanks, Andrew.

Hi there,

They are held on by two pins (forming the hinge) that are spring loaded. The spring is in the door itself.

You can compress the two pins back into their holes to remove the door. Once you have it off you'll see it's a pretty simple setup that works well (pity the doors themselves are a bit fragile). If I recall correctly there are two small screw heads you can use to compress the spring (& thus retract the hinge pins to remove door).

So I screw in the pins? I have done so and it will not come off.

I have attached a pic. You can sort of see the pins (bad camera)

You push both pins toward the centre, note, very easy to break door when trying to remove  :)
