Woke up at 5:30am and half asleep, reversed in to my garage door (fortunately, no damage to the car or door).
Was way, way, way too enthusiastic coming in to Dandy Road corner and put the car 30m in to the kitty litter.
The resulting noise from the drive shaft brought my day to an early end.
Pulling out from Sandown on to Princess Hwy, my best mate 'caressed' my car with his Toyota Camry.
The photo tells you how the story ends.
Bugger.
:'(
thats just not right... if you need a shoulder to cry on Marco.. best look elsewhere, we are already crying here :(
I think today will be known as 'wet Sunday' for a few members. Sales of Kleenex will certainly show a spike.
What was your damage?
oh, no damage to me, i think it was the first time the car has ever run a whole day without an issue! on the way home dad and i were discussing how immaculate your car was! and then we get home to find this! i suppose one could say at least no one got hurt in all the carnage.
Thats a BAD day Marco - you have my sympathies, I was just thinking today what a great looking car it is (was)...
Jimn~
Damn shame mate, damn shame. We heard about it at the pub when Bruno got the call, and we all, to a man, shook our heads and said "oh no, not to that car".
Would rather it had happened to my car Marco - and that's a big call! I know you'll have her fixed as well as she deserves, and this'll be a distant memory soon. Crap >:(
At least now you can run up a massive bar tab at your mate's pub. ;D
Marco, There is a massive knot in my stomach reading this and looking at the photo, Commiserations.
I look forward to seeing the car back as it was, one sweet 105.
Dude no,no,no,no,no that's not how the day is supposed to end!
and i thought i had a bad day yesterday.
Let us no if there's anything you need that i might be able to help with the repairs
and i'm tipping you won't have to buy your own beer at the next club night.
What a rotten thing Marco, my heart goes out to you. I am not looking forward to the day I make a mistake and I know it would be even worse if it is somebody else's mistake. Poor Vanessa Sharp must be feeling the same thing too I bet.
I can only say though that yesterday was the best day I have had with my clothes on, and I look forward to the day I can keep up with you all. (is Evan's car supercharged?)
No.. Evan is supercharged!
I hesitate to ask, but what happened to Vanessa?
Hopefully, the mighty 33 only requires a little bit of loving from Vin.
yeah,
for us interstate and / or bed ridden - what on earth happened yesterday @ Sandown? a blow by blow synopsis please ( if it isnt too embarrasing for the members involved).
Like they say, til you fall off a motorbike, spin off the circuit or earn a "badge of courage"' or 2, you havent been trying hard enough!
Just a little biff on Vanessa's 33, when a 75 went off on T1 and did the unforgivable by rolling back on to the track into the path of passing traffic. Just not what we want to happen when we are having fun. The dollars we like spending is on racing not fixing.
I like gary's description of a little biff...i would hate to have a big one! That may involve replacing every panel on the car instead of just half of them! :(
im sorry to see that marco's car got broken too...we all must have jinxed you by complementing how well kept it is!
Yes, a decent little biff there. If complementing the owner on how the car looks causes this, I am pretty sure Gary's car would have been cleaned up ... because judging how is other 105's look the race car would be very special.
That's a hint Gary, where are the photo's ?
I could not believe it when I saw Vanessa's car go by with its undesirable modifications. That is absolutely rotten luck and undeserved. I definitely know how you feel.
If you need a great panel beater, I highly recommend Burwood Panelworks.
Thanks to all for the kind words of sympathy and support.
Every time I walk past the car, I can almost hear it say, "I am lovely and pretty. Why do you treat me this way?" (I must try to drink less).
Initial damage assessment:
- Left rear 1/4 panel
- Rear panel
- Boot lit
- Rear floor panel
- Both rear tail lights
- Rear bumper repair
Adrian from Burwood Panelworks told me it was probably the best time to have an accident. They completed their work less than months ago, so the paint will be easy to colour match.
There may be a red 159 running at Phillip Island in July (very carefully).
Hey Marco
Evan and I just watched some of his in-car footage from Sandown, (not sure if it's the one he's posted on youtube) and when he comes up behind you at one stage you can see flames shooting out of your exhaust on the overrun! Awesome, I've always wanted a car that could do that!
Thanks Sheldon.
I was wondering if anyone had noticed my latest enhancement to the 'Burgundy Bullet'.
These kits are available from Autobarn.
Just ask for;
Brand: Maaayyt
Product: FarkenFullySikFlamesEnFluoro
$169
Its a do-it-yewz-self kit.
This is the Japanese manufactured version, including under car fluoro and a turbo CHSSSST emitter. I didn't install these as I believe that would put me in Super Modified class.
I have tried the Italian version but it's a bit unreliable, though produces flames with lovely flowing lines.
The American kits have the biggest flame output by far but also tend to be somewhat loud and annoying.
I would love to see the footage.
Cheers,
Marco.
It is in this video, but you can't see it in the youtube quality..
too bright during the day to see the flouro's clearly though, we'll have to do some night drifting!
