I've got a perfect indicator stalk in my TS, factory and not rebuilt. Doesn't click when neutral that I've ever noticed. Although, if you really listen or pay attention, our Holden Cruze clicks every turn regardless.

My 75 certainly doesn't click without the indicators on. However, my Alfetta GTV did when I first installed the new switchgear but it turns out I had the alignment slightly out. A little fiddling and adjustment and now it doesn't click. They use different systems so it may not be the problem but I would be whipping the steering wheel off and see if you can identify the click and nullify it.
